For a closed competition announced by KÖR, I collaborated with Katrin Hornek and Johanna Tinzl, who were invited to create an artistic installation for the newly designed Europaplatz in St.Pölten.
Their idea was to create a sculpture of a transformed version of a locally resident frog which is projected into its speculative, posthuman future. Its appearance is based on a hand drawing that is translated into a three-dimensional version out of steel-tubes standing on top of an elevation.
The creature reacts to its immediate environment by spraying cooling mist on days above 30° C and crying on days above 35° C. Thus, “Rana Europea – Crying for the Future” negotiates a global issue on a local level: global warming, which also manifests itself physically at the busy Europaplatz.
